Campbell, Santa Clara County
Benjamin Campbell bought farmland here in 1851 and later sold lots for a town that came to be called the Orchard City. Canneries and fruit-drying yards lined the railroad for decades, packing prunes and apricots from the surrounding valley. The Ainsley House, an English Tudor home built in 1925 by a cannery owner, was moved downtown and opened as a museum. Campbell incorporated in 1952.
